Plot a route, pack light, reach the flag
Innovation Quest is an independent game studio based in Stoke-on-Trent and run by UK INNOVATION ACADEMY LTD. We make turn-based expedition puzzles for Android phones, played out on maps built from hexagonal tiles.
Each map hides a single flag. You choose the path one tile at a time, and every step spends from a small pack of supplies that has to last the whole journey.
Map key
- ^ Ridge
- Costs two rations to climb but reveals the ring of tiles around it.
- ~ Ford
- Crossing is free, yet it soaks the rope, which then weighs an extra slot.
- . Camp
- Lets you rest and repack, though each camp can be used only once per map.
- F Flag
- The finish line. Arrive with supplies to spare and the next region opens.
What goes in the pack
| Item | Slots | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Rations | 1 each | One per ordinary step; two on a ridge |
| Rope | 2 | Bridges a single gap between cliffs |
| Lantern | 1 | Shows hidden tiles in fog for three turns |
| Spare boots | 1 | Cancels the cost of one bog tile |
The pack holds six slots. Deciding what to leave at camp is half of every puzzle.
Design bearings
- We design our games so that every map can be finished with the supplies it hands you, with no paid refills.
- Turns wait for you. Nothing moves until you commit a step, so a map can sit untouched for a week.
- An undo button takes back the last step at any time, because a puzzle should punish plans, not slips of the finger.
- Fog, weather and terrain come from hand-made regions instead of random generation, so each map has a deliberate solution.
